Start a Company

The most important quality of potential startup founders?

As a lifelong entrepreneur myself, and an investor in ~100 others, I’ve learned that, of all the factors that make a good entrepreneur, one thing stands above all others.

It’s not about talent, intellect or ability.

👇

It’s about being comfortable living by your own rules.

That means:

  1. Thriving without direction
  2. Not worrying about status
  3. Ignoring the urge to conform
  4. Being motivated to get sh!t done
  5. Not caring what other people think
  6. Setting your own definition of success
  7. Being comfortable without material luxuries

At DQventures, when we’re deciding who to start a business with, one of the things we look for is evidence of someone’s ability to thrive outside of the lines.

It may be that they started a company as a teen. …Or they overcame hardship / adversity. …Or they produced something unique. …Or they relocated as a child. …Or they worked overseas. …Or they survived conflict. …Or they travelled.

These people often don’t see themselves as being different; but the people around them see it as plain as day.

The world needs entrepreneurs, perhaps now more than ever.

We should celebrate them.
